Narodowy Fundusz Inwestycyjny Progress Spółka Akcyjna został założony aktem notarialnym w dniu 15 grudnia 1994 roku przez Ministra Przekształceń Własnościowych działającego w imieniu Skarbu Państwa w ramach Programu Powszechnej Prywatyzacji (PPP). W dniu 13 marca 1996 r. uchwałą NWZA została zmieniona nazwa Funduszu z Czwarty Narodowy Fundusz Inwestycyjny Spółka Akcyjna (IV NFI S.A.) na Narodowy Fundusz Inwestycyjny "PROGRESS" Spółka Akcyjna (NFI Progress S.A.).

W 1997 roku Komisja Papierów Wartościowych i Giełd S.A. dopuściła akcje Funduszu do obrotu publicznego a następnie akcje zostały notowane na Giełdzie Papierów Wartościowych w Warszawie S.A.

Od października 2008 roku majątkiem NFI Progress S.A. zarządza na podstawie umowy Firma Zarządzająca - obecnie Assets Management Equity Fellows Sp. z o.o. SKA (poprzednio NFI Management Sp. z o.o., PZU NFI Management Sp. z o.o. i Supernova Management Sp. z o.o.)

Zgodnie ze Statutem przedmiotem działalności Funduszu jest przede wszystkim nabywanie papierów wartościowych emitowanych przez Skarb Państwa, nabywanie bądź obejmowanie udziałów lub akcji oraz innych papierów wartościowych emitowanych przez podmioty zarejestrowane i działające w Polsce, wykonywanie praw z akcji, udziałów i innych papierów wartościowych

Narodowy Fundusz Inwestycyjny Progress Spółka Akcyjna was established under the notarial deed on 15th December 1994 by the Minister of Privatization acting on behalf of the National Treasure within the framework of the General Privatization Program (PPP). On 13th March 1996 by the resolution of NWZA the name of the fund Czwarty Narodowy Fundusz Inwestycyjny Spółka Akcyjna (IV NFI S.A.) changed into Narodowy Fundusz Inwesycyjny "Progress" Spółka Akcyjna (NFI Progress S.A.).

In 1997 the Polish Securities and Exchange Commission S.A. permitted the shares of the Fund to public trade and then these shares were quoted on the Stock Exchange in Warsaw S.A.   

Since October 2008 the equity of NFI Progress S.A. is managed under the agreement by the Managing Company - now it is Assets Management Equity Fellows Sp. z o.o. SKA (previously NFI Management Sp. z o.o., PZU NFI Management Sp z O.o. and Supernova Management Sp. z o.o.)

According to the Articles of Association the subject of Fund’s activity is acquiring the securities issued by the National Treasure, acquitting or taking up shares or stocks or other securities issued by the registered entities and acting in Poland, as well as execution of the rights to shares, options of stocks and other securities.
